The LEAD Initiative
The Leading and Educating Across Domains (LEAD) Initiative serves the young and young at heart throughout Indiana. Using evidence inspired and supported programs, LEAD partners with local community organizations to reach youth and seniors to provide them with tools and strategies to live healthy, productive lives.
Elder LEAD is tailored to the unique needs of senior citizens. This initiative is designed to address gaps in resources and serve as a protective factor for the senior population. The Elder LEAD program is implemented through a series of workshops that are facilitated in senior centers, senior serving agencies, residential housing, and faith-based centers.
Elder LEAD program curriculum incorporates:
Sharing of information
Engaging participants in identifying their own risk

Youth LEAD emphasizes making choices that are based on participants’ individual short- and long-term goals. The program is based on current effective social, emotional, cognitive and behavioral theories and can be submitted to the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices.
Youth LEAD is co-facilitated by trained Adult Facilitators and Youth LEADers. The program works to reduce and prevent alcohol, tobacco, and other drug use (ATOD) to help teens reach their full potential.
Youth LEAD curriculum is shaped with the following additional goals in mind:
Brief enough to run more than once a year
